Main Article Content
Abstract
In this research work a strong acid leaching test has been done for tin slag which has been reduced with the use of carbon at temperature of 700°C for two hours. Experimental variables are the type of slag, acid concentration and type of acid. Material experiments which are used in this study are the slag of the first stage of tin smelting process (slag I) and slag II derived from re smelting process of slag I in the second stage furnace. The most elements content in slag I are tin and iron otherwise the most element content in slag II are calcium and titanium. Hydrochloric and sulfuric acid leaching process can’t extract a rare earth metal element from both of slag I and slag II. Therefore, to extract rare earth metals from tin slag proposed using the other acid such as nitric acid.
