Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism Policy of AMERTA
Objective: The Editorial Board of AMERTA is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity in scholarly publishing. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited, and the following policy outlines the specific actions and penalties that will be applied if plagiarism is detected in submissions. All manuscripts will undergo pre-screening for plagiarism checking using Ithenticate Software. The Editorial Section will carry out the screening process after the manuscript is received.
Plagiarism Definition: Plagiarism is the act of presenting another person's work or ideas as your own, either with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgment. This action includes using another author's language, thoughts, or original ideas without proper citation. Types of plagiarism include:
- Full Plagiarism: Submitting published content as original without any changes to the text, ideas, or grammar.
- Partial Plagiarism: Combining content from multiple sources with extensive text rearrangement.
- Self-Plagiarism: Republishing one's own previously published research without proper citation.
Publication Policy:
- All papers must be original, unpublished, and not pending publication elsewhere. Direct quotations from other sources must be clearly identified with indentation, quotation marks, and full citation.
- Reproduction of text beyond fair use (more than two or three sentences or equivalent) or any graphic material requires permission from the copyright holder and proper citation.
- The Editor-in-Chief will review suspected cases of plagiarism and determine the necessary action based on the level of plagiarism detected.
Plagiarism Penalties:
- Minor plagiarism (11-20% similarity) involves minor text duplication. The author will be warned and asked to revise the manuscript to properly cite the original source.
- Medium plagiarism (21-30% similarity): Significant text duplication without proper citations. The manuscript will be rejected, and the author must rewrite and correctly cite the sources.
- Major plagiarism (>30% similarity): Extensive duplication or direct copying of original research will result in the manuscript's rejection, and the author will be barred from submitting any manuscripts for one year.
Screening Process: Upon submission, all manuscripts will undergo a plagiarism check using iThenticate software. The Editorial Section is responsible for this initial screening. The maximum allowable similarity index is 10%. Manuscripts that exceed this threshold will be subject to the penalties outlined above.
This policy ensures that all publications in the Journal AMERTA meet the highest academic integrity and originality standards.
