  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Authors are requested to submit their papers electronically by using the Jurnal Kependudukan Indonesia online submission and review website: https://ejournal.brin.go.id/jki. This site will guide authors stepwise through the submission process.

Authors who cannot provide an electronic version or have other circumstances that prevent online submission must contact the Editor before submission to discuss alternative options; email: jki@brin.go.id. The Publisher and Editor regret that they cannot consider submissions that do not follow these procedures.

  1. Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture or academic thesis), that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, that its publication is approved by all authors and tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities where the work was carried out, and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere including electronically in the same form or any other language, without the written consent of the copyright holder.
  2. As a peer-reviewed journal, Jurnal Kependudukan Indonesia provides a platform for publishing the most advanced scientific research in population studies and human ecology. The journal welcomes original empirical investigations and book reviews, and the papers may represent a variety of theoretical perspectives and different methodological approaches.
  3. The manuscript should be written in Indonesian or English and submitted in Word format (.doc or .docx). Keep the layout of the text as simple as possible.
  4. Manuscripts should be between 5000-8.000 words in length (including tables, and figures, but excluding References). Only manuscripts with multiple studies can go beyond this length. Word count is not applicable for revised versions and resubmissions.
  5. The manuscript is set in 12-point Times New Roman, 1.5 spacing, no spacing between paragraphs and printed using A4 paper (210 mm x 297mm) A4 page.
  6. JKI does not publish more than 1 article with the same author (either as the principal author or as a co-author) in the same edition.
  7. An author (either as the principal author or as a co-author) who has published in 1 edition, will be able to publish another article in the third edition after that publication. For example: author A's article was published in JKI in June 2018, so the writer can publish again in December 2019 (note that JKI publishes twice yearly, every June & December).

The manuscript consists of Introduction (including background, identification problems, and purpose), Literature Review, Data and Methods, Results and Discussions, Conclusion, and References.

Outline for the manuscript:

  1. Title: Concise and informative. Titles are often used in information retrieval systems. Avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible. Consists of 10-15 words written in Indonesian and English.
  2. Abstract: The abstract should summarize the paper's content; the abstract consists of 150-200 words. Do not have references or displayed equations in the abstract. The abstract should briefly state the research's purpose, principal results, and major conclusions. References should be avoided. Also, non-standard or uncommon abbreviations should be avoided, but if essential they must be defined at their first mention in the abstract itself.
  3. Introduction: The introduction states the objectives of the work and provides an adequate background, avoiding a detailed literature survey or a summary of the results.
  4. Data and Methods: This section should provide a clear and comprehensive description of the research methodology employed in the manuscript. Briefly describe the type of research conducted, describe the data source and explain how data was collected, including the instruments used and measures taken to ensure data quality, and briefly describe the methods used for data analysis and the rationale behind them.
  5. Result and Discussion: This should explore the significance of the results of the work, not repeat them. Avoid extensive citations and discussion of published literature.
  6. Conclusions: This section should provide a clear and concise summary of the study's key findings, their significance, and the implications for future research. A brief explanation of any limitations of the study and potential directions for future research can also be provided.
  7. Tables: Please submit tables as editable text, not images. Tables can be placed either next to the relevant text in the article, or on a separate page(s) at the end. Number tables consecutively in accordance with their appearance in the text and place any table notes above the table body. Be sparing in using tables and ensure that the data presented in them do not duplicate results described elsewhere in the article.
  8. References Using in-text citation adhered to 7th Edition of American Psychological Association (APA 7th Ed. Style; https://guides.library.uq.edu.au/referencing/apa7). The minimum number of references is 10 for Research Articles and 25 for Review Articles. All the reference in the references list must have been cited in the article body. The references must consist of at least 80% primary sources (journal articles and proceedings). Also, it is recommended that 80% of these comprise sources published in the past ten years.
