Peluang dan Tantangan Pemanfaatan Bonus Demografi pada Aspek Ketenagakerjaan di Kota Salatiga

Abstract

Many regions in Indonesia, including Salatiga City, have experienced a window of opportunity to obtain demographic dividend during the period of 2020–2030. This situation is characterised by an increase in the number of the productive age population (15–64 years old) and a decline in the unproductive age population (0–14 years old and 65 years old and above). This demographic shift underscores the significance of the labour force aspect in achieving development objectives. This research aims to describe the labor force situation in relation to the utilisation of the demographic devidend and to analyse the opportunities and challenges of labour force in Salatiga City. The study analyses secondary data from institutions associated with the population and labor in Salatiga City to obtain the demographic and labour profiles in this region. The findings reveal that Salatiga City has already entered the demographic dividend period, with a dependency ratio below 50%. The working-age population, workforce, and workforce participation rate show a positive trend. Meanwhile, job opportunities and open unemployment exhibit a negative trend
