As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

General Guideline

Scope

Manuscript can be a description on society and culture in Indonesia. If the manuscript is on foreign society and culture it should be linked and connected to Indonesia.

Manuscript Length

The length of the manuscript is at least 6000 words and no more than 9000 words, including references/bibliography ( its approximately 20 pages)

Language

The manuscript can be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English. The author is expected to check that manuscript have already written in good and correct language. Manuscript is written in English by the author whose first language is not English is encouraged to have the manuscript checked by the people who are native before submission.

Specific guideline

Manuscript

  • Manuscript has never been published in any other publications.
  • Manuscript is written in font times new Roman 12 cpi, size A4, space 1,5
  • Avoid the use of abbreviations such as dll, dsb, e.g,etc,cf,op cit and i.e
  • When the abbreviation is being used, gives the definition on the first use (such as Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (LIPI)

Title, name of author, abstract, keywords

Title and abstract should be in two languages bahasa Indonesia and English. The names of the authors are written in full name without a title(s) accompanied by the address of institution and address of electronic mail (email).  The length of abstract is not more than 200 words and keywords 3-6 words or concepts

References

References or citation should be written in text. Such as ((De Jonge, 1980: 234-235; Manuel & Baier, 1986)

Footnotes

Footnotes is being used for additional explanation, details explanation on some issues, quotation as result in interview, citation from websites/internet.

Bibliography

Manuscript should be accompanied by bibliography. In the Bibliography all literatures that have been cited in text should be listed in alphabetical order based on the family name of the author. If the author has more than one works cited in text, that works should be differentiated by adding a,b,c and so on after the year.

  • The name of Indonesian authors should be listed based on the surname of the author as the family name in western culture (such as Taufik Abdullah in the list of A )
  • The name of Dutch author with prefix such as Van Mook atau De Jonge, should not be listed in V or D, but (in the example ) in M and J
  • Abbreviation is not allowed. In the case of plural names, all the surnames of authors should be listed, except there are four or more than four authors. If there are more than four names or more, after the surname of first author should be added dkk. Citation on report without author should be listed the name of organization. Citation on the publication without author or organization should be use one or three words from the title which creates coherency. 
  • For the article from news or magazines or periodical without author, manuscript should be cited on the title of newspaper or periodical with the date of publication in brackets.  The numbers of the pages should not be listed For example: (Kompas, 5-12-2013), (De Katholieke MissiĆ«n, Vol. 56, April 1931), (Staatsblad van Nederlandsch-IndiĆ« 33/1948). Citation from newspaper or others periodical is not necessarily be listed in bibliography.
  • Citation from electronic book or article from electronic journals should be included the DOI or URL if the publication is only available in electronic sources.
  • Bibliography style is used standard APA.<top>
