PERAN PEMERINTAH DAN SWASTA DALAM PENYEDIAAN INFRASTRUKTUR PERIKANAN TANGKAP

STUDI KASUS BITUNG

Abstract

                                                                                Indonesia has abundant marine and fisheries resources. This potential will have a greater impact if the availability of infrastructure in the capture fisheries sector has an optimal role. In fact, infrastructure needs and its availability have a non-linear relationship,  therefore, the role of government and the private sector is crucially needed in accelerating the establishment of infrastructure. This study was conducted to analyze the role of government and the private sector in the provision of capture fisheries infrastructure which located in Bitung, North Sulawesi. Data was obtained by using indepth interviews, focus group discussions, and field observations. Analysis is carried out qualitatively with primary and secondary data collections. The results show that the private sector still have lack of involment in providing theinfrastructure such as self-interest terminals (TUKS), cold storage, ice factories and utilization of the area as a place of operation for fish processing units. Hence, there should be a collaborative mechanism between government and private sectors to provide sustainable infrastructure.
