Berkala Arkeologi Issue No. 1 May, 2001, this time featuring 6 articles from researchers in the Puslit Arkenas and its staff. These writings are the result of research from several fields of prehistoric, classical and Islamic studies. From the field of prehistoric studies featuring the study of cave settlements in 2 articles, an article on rock types used for megalithic buildings, and an article about a symbolic review of the Tutari site, Irianjaya. The classical field of study displays historical terracotta artifacts, while the field of Islamic studies displays the socialization of Islam in Indonesia. Finally, we hope that these articles will be of use to the development of science in general and in the field of archaeology in particular. Suggestions and criticisms from readers are still considered for the progress of this media.

Berkala Arkeologi Volume 20 Edition No. 1 / May 2000 presents papers that have been presented in archaeology seminars at the Puslit Arkenas. At the beginning of this edition, six articles from the Balai Arkeologi Yogyakarta were published, which were presented in the 1999 Evaluation of Archaeological Research Results in Lembang, Bandung. As is well known, the summary of the results of the seminar in Bandung has been published in the form of a Handbook for Archaeological Research Methodology by the Puslit Arkenas in 2000.The articles published in this edition deal with the latest archaeological research methods, which consist of survey techniques, interview techniques, artifact analysis techniques, ecofact analysis techniques, written source analysis techniques and archaeological information systems. Other articles are from the Archaeological Research Results Evaluation seminar held in Ujung Pandang (South Sulawesi) in 1996, and in Cipayung (West Java) in 1998. In addition, this edition also contains other interesting articles from other archaeology seminars outside Puslit Arkenas.
