Policy of Screening for Plagiarism

At TAMBO Journal, our stringent plagiarism screening policy includes the requirement that all submitted articles must exhibit a similarity level of less than 20% using the Turnitin plagiarism detection tool. This stipulation is crucial to maintain the authenticity and uphold the highest standards of academic integrity within our journal. Each submitted manuscript undergoes a comprehensive plagiarism check, and our editorial team conducts an initial similarity assessment using the Turnitin software.

Plagiarism is defined as the unauthorized use of another person's ideas or words, presented as one's own, without proper attribution, acknowledgment, or permission. Plagiarism can manifest in various forms, ranging from verbatim copying to paraphrasing another author's work. To detect plagiarism effectively, we consider the following scenarios:

  1. Verbatim Copying: This occurs when an author directly duplicates another person's work, word for word, in whole or in part, without obtaining permission, providing proper attribution, or citing the source. We identify this form of plagiarism by comparing the suspect manuscript with the source.
  2. Substantial Copying: Substantial copying involves an author reproducing a significant portion of another author's work without appropriate authorization, acknowledgment, or citation. The term "substantial" pertains to both the qualitative and quantitative value of the copied content about the entire work. This assessment considers the relative significance of the copied text.
  3. Paraphrasing: Paraphrasing entails taking ideas, words, or phrases from a source and incorporating them into new sentences within the manuscript. It becomes unethical when the author fails to provide proper citations or acknowledge the original work and author. Detecting this type of plagiarism can be challenging due to its nuanced nature.

Rest assured that we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. Any identified cases of plagiarism, regardless of form, will be addressed promptly and by our Correction and Retraction Policies, ensuring the preservation of scholarly integrity and the credibility of our publication.
