Archiving Policy
Digital Archive
Journals published by BRIN Publishing are committed to ensuring the permanent availability and preservation of scholarly research, guaranteeing accessibility by converting and upgrading digital file formats to comply with the latest technological standards. We collaborate with various organizations and maintain our own digital archive to uphold these standards.
Local Archive
Our digital content archive is supported by a state-of-the-art local facility that stores accurate, complete digital versions of published papers. The current format standard is .pdf, with most files stored in both formats.
Website Archiving
All electronic content, including websites and manuscripts, is stored across three different sources. One server holds the content online and accessible to readers, while the same content is backed up on two additional sources. If one server fails, the backup server will be activated, ensuring the website remains accessible within 24-36 hours.
Systems Backup
All publications in BRIN Publishing are backed up once a week with incremental backups. The journals are hosted in a cloud computing environment, where the system is regularly backed up, including applications, databases, and electronic documents.
Self-Archiving
BRIN Publishing supports self-archiving, allowing and encouraging authors to make their research visible and accessible by uploading the final published version of their articles to personal or institutional repositories immediately after publication. Authors should provide bibliographic details to ensure proper credit, if applicable, for the publication.
Indexing
Our journals are indexed and abstracted by various services, which store essential information about the articles. In addition, two of our journals’ indexing services archive not only the metadata but also the electronic versions of the articles. Therefore, copies of the articles are accessible to the scientific community through these systems as an alternative to the journals themselves.
All published articles are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) via CrossRef. Our books are deposited in multiple digital archives around the world to guarantee long-term digital preservation. All published articles are indexed in Dimensions and Google Scholar. Additionally, all articles are permanently archived and available in PDF format. Metadata for our books is made available in compliance with Open Archives Initiative protocols, allowing automated harvesting of our research articles for inclusion in other digital archives. We support non-exclusive digital archiving of our research articles by as many international archives as possible to ensure the security and permanent accessibility of that research.
LOCKSS Initiative
BRIN Publishing participates in the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) initiative, which enables any library to maintain its own archive of content from Jurnal Penelitian Hasil Hutan and other publishers, with minimal technical effort and using inexpensive hardware.
