Focus and Scope
Marine Research in Indonesia (MRI) is a broad-scoped, interdisciplinary journal addressing all aspects of oceanography and coastal management in the Indonesian seas and the adjacent Indo-Pacific region. MRI welcomes submissions on topics including but not limited to the following:
- Physical oceanography: Ocean currents, waves, tides, air-sea interaction, and advanced ocean modelling.
- Biological oceanography: Plankton dynamics, benthic organisms, fisheries biology, marine ecological dynamics, and biodiversity.
- Chemical oceanography: Biogeochemical cycles, trace elements, nutrient dynamics, ocean acidification, pollutant tracking and monitoring.
- Geological oceanography: Marine sedimentology, underwater topography, bathymetry, marine tectonic activities.
- Coastal management: Sustainable development, marine conservation, coastal zone policy-making, and environmental resilience.
- Encompassing all aspects of marine research through theoretical frameworks, laboratory analyses, and experimental field studies.
