For the second time, Berkala Arkeologi published a special issue in its 14th year. The Special Edition presented is the result of the Seminar on Data Evaluation and New Interpretation of Ancient Indonesian History held by the Balai Arkeologi Yogyakarta on 23-24 March 1994. The seminar was held in connection with the award of Mr Drs. Sukarto Karto Atmodjo, who entered his retirement on May 1, 1993. In the study of Indonesia's ancient history, it cannot be denied that Drs. Sukarto Karto Atmodjo has made invaluable contributions to education and research. As an expert, he is still asked for his thoughts in various seminars, workshops, work meetings, and so on. The problems discussed were varied, but all seemed consistent departing from his experties, epigraphy.
